Severe Problem Behavior
The latest peer-reviewed research on contingent skin-shock (i.e. positive punishment) examined the ethical, effective, and efficient use of the procedure in the treatment of severe problem behaviors. The article appeared in the International Journal of Psychology and Behavior Analysis and provides support for the assertion that, when used as a supplement to differential reinforcement procedures, contingent skin-shock may be the least intrusive treatment available for the severe problem behaviors of some individuals.
